If you’re looking for a great day out for the family that is different from anything you’ve ever experienced before, then you must consider the Abbey Medieval Festival.
Save the Date: 11 and 12 July, 2015
The festival is an annual event, hosted by the Abbey Museum, situated in Caboolture just 40 minutes north of Brisbane.
Featuring jousting, archery, medieval fare and historical displays, there is truly something for everyone. The kids can dress up as their favourite prince, princess or knight too, which is always good fun.
The festival is everything we love about carnivals, but with so much more than just fairy floss and tummy churning rides. There is a sense of excitement and adventure, and you really do feel transported back to another place and time.
The festival website is extremely comprehensive and will help first timers prepare for the event. There are volunteers on hand on the day to also ensure your day goes smoothly. There are suggested itineraries online for various age groups, for example this one for 1 – 5 year olds!
As a mother, who has attended with two small (toffee apple eating) children, I can attest that the festival is a great day out for families. As an occupational therapist, I am pleased to say that the organisers are very keen to ensure everyone who wants to join in, can also have a great day, regardless of special needs or other requirements. Just ask and they will do their best to accommodate you. See you there!
